Just seeing that you are so close to sights such as these inspires!

It reminds me of when I lived on Galveston Island, TX. The heat was unbearable but the view splendiferous. Sail boats, shrimp boats, oil tankers, etc. I remember one magical week when every morning on the seawall, which skirts the Gulf of Mexico, there was a rainbow over the island, like a giant easter basket handle.
Yes, it certainly is fun to see the Lake. I never get tired of see it. I often think of purchasing a house with a view. But for now whenever I go outside and look south on an Avenue, I can usually see the lake.

I had been thinking of you and what you said about Galveston. But they did have a terrible hurricane a couple years ago. Do you think you are glad did you didn't purchase property near the seawall? Or continue living there?
We're happy as clams we didn't purchase property near the seawall. We already got stung by the watery flood in Grand Forks. Hurricane Ike was a category 3 or 4, that's a really significant storm. We were in Galveston when a category 1 hurricane made a direct hit the island...every single structure on the seawall was damaged in some way. Ick.

However, if I had it to do over: I RENT on the seawall and really, really have been disciplined about not accumulating stuff. Now that's island living.
