I took this photo because I liked the way the sun was shining on this fourple and because of the kids playing in the space between the fourplex and the townhouses.

The northern end of I-35

This sign points to the North Shore. This is the end of the line for Interstate 35 as it stops in Duluth. A person must exit here, 26th Avenue East, and take city streets or roads. To continue to the North Shore take London Road, which will go right by the historic Glensheen Mansion. London Road is also Highway 61. Then at Brighton Beach, newly named Kitchi Gammi Park, you can choose to take the Expressway or Scenic Highway 61 to Two Harbors.

Masonic Center

This Masonic buidling is located at 2 W. Second St. It is a Scottish Rite building. I tried to find out more about it, but I can find anything right now. I took the photo because I liked how the red in the flag framed the door with the Masonic symbol along with the red car and the red railings for the stairs.

Minnesota Slip Bridge

The Minnesota Slip Bridge is a pedestrian drawbridge connects the DECC area with Canal Park. Learn more here.

Here is part of what John H. Weeks III says on his blog: As the development was in progress, the city ended up with a lot of pedestrian traffic in Canal Park, and a lot of pedestrian traffic by the DECC, but no way for people to easily move between the two locations. For example, if a show let out at the DECC, people would naturally want to head over to the Canal Park area for dinner and to stroll along the boardwalk. But this was all but impossible due to the Minnesota Slip boat channel blocking access between the two sites. While the slip is only 150 feet wide, its 1,000 foot length makes for nearly a half-mile walk. Continue to read more here.

East Hillside is a neighborhood of many rental houses. Some blocks have only one owner-occupied home. Many landlords live in another neighborhood or even in the Twin Cities. Some homes are still owned by people who used to live in them, some are owned by parents of college students or the students themselves. They rent out the bedrooms to other students. Some homes are owned as investment property.

Red berries and brown leaves

I took the photo because of the contrast of the red berries and green grass with the brown leaves. Almost every yard in Duluth has a hill and you can see the slope of the hill on someone's front lawn of Skyline Drive. If it were not raining I think you could see Lake Superior in the background. Other photos I took this morning were full of browns and greys. There is a strange mix now of trees with no leaves, tree with some color and green leaves.
